Museums, mansions, monastic ruins and megalithic tombs, Roscommon is steeped in history and the romance of a bygone era. And there’s more than a few surviving castles and grand country dwellings nestled across the beautiful landscape for that romantic wedding in the country such as Clonalis House – a beautiful manor home in rolling parkland and seat of the last High Kings of Ireland. Almost entirely surrounded by water, with the river Suck to the West and the River Shannon to the East, Roscommon offers plenty of watery backdrops for photo ops and fantastic fishing to boating opportunities. You can also spend days wandering through Lough Key Forest Park and Strokestown house before getting lost in the ruins of Roscommon Castle.
