It has intentionally dedicated itself solely to a very small number of handpicked luxury weddings and events each year, devoting the highest possible standards to each of them. No other luxury venue in Ireland purposely focuses all its attention on such a small number of exclusive events each year.
It is a wholly private estate, available as a whole hire only, strictly private and personal to you. It is not a hotel or guesthouse and is not open to the public in any other way or for any other reason. It is significantly more private than any other private wedding venue in Ireland, because its attention is not divided by any other activity.
It is utterly beautiful, with each room of the house exuding tasteful Georgian loveliness and classical elegance, the beautiful stone banqueting barn and stables steeped in the rustic charm of a fairylit wonderland, and each vista in every direction around the estate offering wonderful opportunities for the picture-perfect photograph.
It is perfectly located, situated in one of the most picturesque parts of Ireland, less than an hour from Dublin, with a spectacular drop-dead view high up over a canopy of uninterrupted woodland, surrounded by grounds that make you feel you are somehow lost in time, strewn with old iron railings and mossy steps, fern-filled dells and wispy meadows.
It is fully staffed, event-managed & equipped – significantly different from other private wedding venues – with your own butler, household, wedding coordination staff and fine-dining caterer, with everything organised in advance down to the finest detail, and with all facilities, equipment, logistics & décor options already in place. It is warmly personal, being that wonderful mix of impressive backdrop to your day while at the same time feeling homely, comfortable and relaxed. With chatelaine Miriam Clune at the helm and the core household management team of the formidable Elaine and the legendary Gerry by her side, the staff of Clonwilliam genuinely care about your day as much as you do. This is not the professional, anonymous hospitality of a hotel: This is much better described as old-fashioned Irish familial warmth.
Driving up the tree-lined avenue is like stepping back in time to a more romantic, gentler world. It is hard not to get poetic about the magic of this place, hard not to fall in love with the romance of it.
There have been many old love stories forged amongst the bluebells here, hidden in the dappled sunlight, carved into its ancient trees.

Clonwilliam House boasts a number of spectacular spaces for hosting the wedding or party of your dreams.
The pre-dinner drinks reception can be held in the main rooms of the house and outside on the terraces overlooking the wonderful views of the valley. The main reception rooms are a fusion of fabulous contemporary luxury on one hand and stately Georgian gorgeousness on the other, with duck-egg blues and mint-greens, open fires and lavish candelabras, decorative plasterwork and fairytale urns.
For the banquet, we ring our Victorian gong and retire to the dining room of the house for intimate banquets. For larger wedding banquets, we proceed to our barn and stables, located across the gravel beside the main house. Unusual and visually spectacular, the theme of the stables and barn is rustic glamour, open to the rafters, painted in off-white colours, decorated with real trees and strung with thousands of fairylights. With a full bar, dancefloor, snug, toilets, cloakroom, full banqueting kitchen & service areas in situ, this is THE perfect place for an epic party! We have no minimum numbers and we can seat up to 200 guests in the barn for dinner.
For night-before dinners and second-day parties, there are a number of ideal spaces, including the stableyard courtyard for BBQ’s, the terraces for garden parties and the formal drawing and dining room of the house for drinks and dining.
Clonwilliam can accommodate 12 to 14 guests in its 6 guest bedrooms. Each bedroom is prettily decorated with family antiques and each enjoys its own beautiful bathroom, with roll-top baths, luxurious linens and Molton Brown accessories. House guests are looked after by the household staff headed by Elaine and enjoy breakfast in the dining room, refreshments in the drawing room, and personalised room treats at turn-down in their rooms.
Nearby, there are lots of accommodation options for the rest of your guests, from hotels to self-catering cottages, country houses to B&Bs and guest houses. Unlike other venues where transport can be a significant problem, our butler’s team personally ensures that each one of your guests is transported safely back to their accommodation no matter what time of the day or night.
There are many picturesque churches within easy reach of Clonwilliam. You are also welcome to have your ceremony at Clonwilliam itself, and there are a number of wonderful areas inside and outside in which you can say “I do”. Our team of wedding elves set up the ceremony space to be as magical as possible and take care of all the decoration, flowers, logistics and running of the ceremony. Should you wish to have your ceremony outside, we will wait until the morning of the wedding to set up, thereby allowing you decide the location at the latest possible time, depending on the weather. Clonwilliam House welcomes and is open to the public for solemnised weddings and civil partnerships in accordance with the Civil Registration Act 2004 (as amended) and the Marriage Act 2015.
Clonwilliam’s suite of pretty vintage lawn games can be set out for your drinks reception or second-day party, including croquet on our croquet lawn, boules, ringtoss, skittles, giant wooden garden scrabble, oversized noughts & crosses, giant jenga and many more. Our local shooting instructor can provide clay-pigeon shooting for guests at the railing to the front of the house, while we bring out the tweeds to complete the picture. Archery can be arranged on the terraces by the house. Our house guests are welcome to immerse themselves in the stunning contemporary-designed private pool in the basement of the house, with sauna, hot tub, bar and private gym, and we can arrange spa treatments on request. There are picturesque walks around the grounds and through the surrounding woodlands. And the beautiful Woodenbridge Golf Club, “Ireland’s Augusta”, is located just minutes down into the valley.
We have a detailed planning meeting with each of our couples, some months in advance of the wedding day, to discuss and elucidate all the myriad of details around your wedding weekend. This allows us to plan each detail down to the most minute, to ensure that everything is just as you want it to be. From table plans to running orders, from dealing with suppliers to printing your menus using your wedding stationery design, from arranging stunning floral displays in your colour schemes to composing your table centrepieces from our array of decorative options; everything is done for you to your specific requirements, with loving care and attention to detail.
We have compiled a carefully curated list of recommended wedding suppliers in all areas to assist you in booking everything from your music to your cake, and are happy to liaise with all suppliers on your behalf throughout the wedding.
And from the moment you arrive on your wedding weekend, every aspect of the weekend is managed for you. In Clonwilliam there are none of the usual stresses or unforeseen tasks. Your only job will be to enjoy the best day of your life. Our job will be to do everything else.
