Description

Currarevagh House is a gracious early Victorian Country House, set in 180 acres of private parkland and woodland bordering on Lough Corrib. We offer an oasis of privacy for guests in an idyllic, undisturbed natural environment, providing exceptional personal service with a high standard of accommodation and old fashioned, traditional character. A genuine warm welcome from the owners.

Currarevagh (pronounced “Curra – reeva”) still retains the atmosphere of a bygone age where the emphasis is on hospitality and service. It is run along the lines of a private country house rather than as an impersonal hotel and while extremely comfortable it is not pretentious. The tranquil informality lends itself to those seeking a relaxing few days, enjoying our house and grounds or exploring the beauty of Lough Corrib, Connemara, Galway and beyond. Please note Currarevagh is not suitable for children under 10 years old.

Wedding Description

We love hosting events of all kinds, shapes and sizes here. House parties, exclusive rentals, intimate weddings, family get-togethers, corporate stuff, hidden meet ups we do them all. The country house atmosphere really lends itself to gatherings that demand attention from the organisers, within an intimate and special environment.

We have hosted a number of weddings (obviously only on an exclusive rental basis). As a general rule marquees on the lawn are not a runner. Have done it twice and it was hectic, the house is not suitable for 200 people running around it, it costs a fortune in marquee / kitchen / everything hire… but the main problem is accommodation. There is relatively little in the area, so you are busing all your guests back in to Galway at 3am to a hotel there. The logistics would make you old.

But small weddings, with guests up to about 50 or so are super fun and our location can’t be beaten. There is plenty of space in the drawing and reception rooms, a dance floor can be squeezed in.
