Please take a look around our luxury, eco and gourmet retreat, nestled in the heart of the beautiful Burren on Ireland's west coast. The house has been welcoming guests since the 1940s and our family have been running it since 1976. Our stunning 18th century manor house is set in its own established and lovingly-attended gardens on the Wild Atlantic Way, and has spectacular views that stretch across the Burren hills to Galway Bay.
Inside, you'll find welcoming open fires, candlelight and striking decoration ranging from modern art, to antique furniture, to pretty garden flowers adorning the rooms. Gregans Castle has long been a source of inspiration for its visitors.
Guests have included J.R.R Tolkien, who's said to have been influenced by the Burren when writing The Lord of the Rings, as well as other revered artists and writers such as Seamus Heaney and Sean Scully.
And for the guests of today: with warm Irish hospitality, stylish accommodation, outstanding service and exceptional fine dining in our award-winning restaurant, we truly are a country house of the 21st century. Your special day deserves a special location. Inside and out, Gregans Castle Hotel will provide a romantic and idyllic space, set against the breathtaking scenery of the Burren and Galway Bay.
We’ll work with you to make sure your day is exactly how you want it to be. We can offer exclusive use of the hotel for parties of up to 75 guests, and if you have more loved ones than can fit into our 21 rooms, there’s plenty of additional accommodation nearby.
On your big day you can enjoy canapés and champagne or cocktails on the lawn or in the Corkscrew Room, and for those all-important photographs – our lovingly-attended gardens are the perfect backdrop.
We offer a five-course wedding dinner with two choices per course and we can also serve late night nibbles for dedicated revellers. If you’d like a religious ceremony, nearby Noughaval Church is ideal, or our Drawing Room is perfect for non-religious ceremonies. And, to make your occasion truly exceptional we can organise local activities and excursions, and help with any entertainment requirements you might have.
Influencer Ailbhe Garrihy married Ruaidhri Hehir in the Church of the Holy Rosary Doolin on October 3rd 2019, followed by a reception in Gregans Castle Hotel.
J.R.R. Tolkien regularly stayed in Gregans Castle Hotel in the 1950s. Tolkien was apparently inspired by the Burren while writing Lord of The Rings.
