Description

Situated in the picturesque village of Castletown Geoghegan, County Westmeath, Mount Druid is an exquisite private wedding venue set in a parkland of 100 acres. The purpose built Tin Chapel, Boathouse, Barn and our custom made accommodation nestle sympathetically into the landscape and offer the opportunity for a bespoke wedding to remember in a beautiful and exclusive wedding venue. The Murphy family have an affinity with nature and take great pride in their role as custodians of the land, having planted over 200,000 trees. They cultivate and grow as much organic foodstuffs and fuel as they can. In a County renowned for its rich agricultural heritage, Mount Druid is also a working organic sheep farm.

Wedding Description

Marriage ceremonies can be carried out in our “unconsecrated” Tin Chapel, an intimate, alternative and quaint gathering space nestled among the pine trees on our site. the Tin Chapel is perfect for a simple blessing or a full ceremony. The Tin Chapel can seat 190 guests. If you prefer to be outdoors – our beautiful New Garden located behind the Main Barn is the perfect location in which to exchange your vows, Guests will be seated in the raised Amphitheatre overlooking the pond with views over the extensive grounds.

After your Ceremony in the Tin Chapel, enjoy a leisurely stroll across the hill to The Boat House for your drinks reception with canapes. This is an inviting space, tastefully adorned with art and antique furniture. The boathouse is fully heated ensuring that guests are always comfortable, irrespective of the time of year. When the weather is kind, guests can take their drinks outside by the lake and capture those photographic moments on the deck by the summer house. A Jamie Oliver wood burning pizza oven housed in its own glazed kitchen transforms The Boat House into an informal dining space for you and your guests the evening before or day after your wedding.

Step into the Atrium, a stunning light filled space, resplendent with a Jacobean library and an abundance of soft furnishings in which to relax before or after your meal. A grand piano sits in the corner of the room inviting your guests to play. Our converted Barn is a unique venue – custom designed for your Wedding meal, whether you choose a relaxed BBQ or a formal sit down meal and followed on with dancing the night away decorated in a gorgeous combination of vintage chic with antique and restored furniture, we can seat up to 220 guests. Arts and crafts wallpaper frame the entrance into our beautiful garden room, where you can relax by the wood burning stove while taking in the lovingly restored walled garden.

At Mount Druid we offer a wonderful variety of accommodation for guests. With the exception of Kindalin House, The Birches, The Gate Lodge and The Bus our units of accommodation do not come with power outlets. Each Glamping unit has a free standing lamp for light and is heated by a wood burning stove. Our team will light and top up all fires on the night of your stay. We have Night Porters on site throughout the night to bring guests back to onsite accommodation. If you need to charge your phone or power a hairdryer for example, facilities are available for this.
