Overlooking the handsome, tree-lined People’s Park in Limerick’s historic Georgian Quarter, No.1 Pery Square is a luxurious and intimate boutique townhouse hotel. With 20 bedrooms, delicious food & wine in the restaurant and lounges, an innovative and polished organic spa in the basement, an interestingly stocked shop, a sweet terrace and kitchen garden, and full of personality and style throughout, No. 1 is one of the country’s prettiest and most characterful hotels.
The vision of the owner, Patricia Roberts who bought the building in 2006, is to be found everywhere at No. 1 , one of a terrace of six Georgian houses built around 1830 by the Pery Square Tontine Company. Widely regarded as being the best example of late Georgian architecture in Limerick and probably in Ireland, No.1 is the wonderful building that wraps around the corner of this impressive terrace.
As a Grade 1 listed building, listed on the inside as well as the outside, No. 1 was fully restored in a labour of love by the owners, with all its original architectural features expertly reinstated, so guests are surrounded everywhere by the authentic history of the property.
The charming restaurant on the first floor of No. 1 Pery Square is called Sash, a reference to that most distinctive feature of these magnificent houses, the sash window – and also, maybe, a nod to the dressing-up appeal of going out to dinner! The restaurant, with views of the surrounding Georgian streetscape, has a menu that is quietly confident and traditional, but with the same contemporary twist to be found through the rest of the property. With a focus on home cooking with an extra layer of sophistication, Sash dishes also use herbs and ingredients grown in No. 1 Pery Square’s own kitchen gardens whenever possible.
Sash and the lounges at No.1 Pery Square all have carefully selected wine lists featuring a collection of unique boutique producers & classic French bistro selections, and ranging from casual wines for relaxed evenings, to rare and hard to find bottles.
OPS Spa is in the vaulted basement is a real urban retreat. From Irish mist showers and Sole Pool foot baths to the relaxation space, the Snooze Room, this is an uniquely calming Irish spa experience, using organic range Voya. The basement vaults were restored to create the Spa, retaining their exposed brick and original stonework, and making a quiet, soothing backdrop to a holistic experience.
The Long Room on the ground floor of the main townhouse has an attractive bar, comfy seating and a welcoming open fire. The menu at The Long Room is all about simplicity and pride. Inspired by our wonderful producers — not just from Limerick and its environs, but from the whole island — our role is to source the best ingredients and present them simply to showcase their flavour and the love that has gone into making them.
The Drawing Room on the first floor is the heart of the house with a grand old original marble fireplace where the fire is lit daily. Afternoon Tea is served in the Drawing Room and is a real treat, and this exceptional room, with the adjoining Board Room, also makes a distinctive and exclusive setting for all kinds of private dining events, including important meetings, and gracious weddings for up to 80 guests.
Exclusive use of No 1 Pery Square is a great way to celebrate a wedding for you and your guests. Hiring the hotel in its entirety gives exclusive use to all areas including our park facing drawing room, Georgian terrace and secret walled garden. Also for smaller events for under 30 guests, there is the exclusive use of the main house.
Complete exclusive use is available when all bedrooms are reserved for the wedding night and based on a minimum number of 50 guests attending the wedding dinner. (Subject to date & season). With exclusive use, the hotel becomes your very own townhouse for the day and offers many other opportunities such as late night live entertainment and decoration to suit your very own theme.
We can accommodate up to 85 persons comfortably in our Drawing Room or Restaurant. Our private terrace/garden is perfect for summer receptions and cosy up to the roaring fires in the Park Room at wintertime.
When you simply want to be surrounded with your dearest family and friends on your wedding day, the Drawing Room offers a location that is gracious in style and ambience, bathed in natural daylight & with views of the tree-lined People’s Park, we can accommodate up to 80 guests in a theatre-style layout, the Drawing Room is the perfect venue for your intimate ceremony or drinks reception.
We welcome ceremonies for all occasions and have catered for numerous Civil Ceremonies over the past 6 years since opening, including Civil Partnership, Multicultural, Humanist & Spiritual Ceremonies. Civil Registrars conduct wedding ceremonies Monday – Friday only. However, a Humanist Minister or legal solemniser can officiate at your wedding ceremony on any day of the week.
