Segrave House was purchased by Eugene Ginty and John Cooke in 2009. The idea was to pursue a quieter style of life away from the hustle and bustle of Dublin, with a few alpacas, miniature donkeys, dogs and cats! Well, that was the idea… A random sequence of events in 2010 resulted in tenor Eugene holding an impromptu outdoor concert with soprano Sally Ann Shepherdson. A mixture of friends, music lovers and curious neighbours attended a magical night of operatic favourites, Viennese classics, and scenes from shows such as West Side Story and Phantom of the Opera. Despite the rather inclement weather people flocked back to subsequent shows in 2011 and the first Christmas Show in December 2011 attracted a crowd of 170 people.
The most important thing for us to mention at the outset is that we will try our very best to say ‘yes’ to your requests, however extraordinary they may be! Your special day is very important to us, and as we only hold a maximum of 2 weddings per week, we are able to be more flexible than other venues or hotels which usually have to prepare for another event the following day! All in all, we want you to feel some ‘ownership’ of your big day, and would encourage you both to have as much (or as little!) input as you’d like regarding timings, decor, food, running order etc. We are always here to guide you and to give you the benefit of our experience, and hope that by working closely together we will ensure that both you and your guests feel comfortable and relaxed, and have an amazing experience!
