We’ve a great reputation for relaxed restaurant dining, intimate weddings, luxury accommodation and outdoor seating and dining with breathtaking views. Not to mention our fabulous location… The Red Door Country House is nestled on a 4-acre site on the shores of Lough Swilly in Inishowen, Co. Donegal in the North West of Ireland.
We are situated between Derry and Buncrana, along Donegal’s Wild Atlantic Way, so the country house is easily accessible by car. In fact, we attract day-trip diners from as far as away as Co Down and Co Monaghan – just for our famous Sunday lunches alone. Slow-braised beef in Guinness gravy tops the list of favourites! Afternoon Tea/Gent’s Tea is a real favourite for Saturday catchups, and includes a gluten-free option.
Our sumptuous evening menu is served from Thursday to Sunday from 5pm, offering a range of steaks, seafood, poultry, vegetarian and vegan entrées and a selection of gourmet starters and desserts. We’ve also shaped a special menu for younger diners aged 12 and under.
Built in 1789, the tradition of a country house is today cleverly combined with contemporary luxury and style, and is wheelchair accessible. Beyond the landscaped surroundings, are vegetable and herb gardens that provide the restaurant with delicious fresh ingredients. Our meat and seafood are sourced locally and delivered fresh to our kitchen.
The Red Door Country House is the perfect wedding venue in Donegal for intimate civil wedding ceremonies and wedding receptions, and we’re open again for bookings now that Covid restrictions have eased. Celebrations are held in our beautifully appointed restaurant on the shores of Lough Swilly, with breathtaking views over the water. A Marquee Package is also available for larger weddings.
The extensive landscaped gardens offer unrivalled scenery and a fantastic variation of colour in every season. Combine this with our rolling lawns, mature trees and stunning views across the Swilly, and you have got the perfect backdrop for the most beautiful and dramatic pictures of your wedding day. The Red Door has it all!
