The Theatre Royal is Ireland’s oldest continually operating theatre. Lovingly restored, this Victorian gem hidden within a beautiful Georgian building, is a jewel in the midst of Waterford’s Viking Triangle. The building opened in 1785 and included a playhouse and Assembly Rooms which were designed by famous Waterford architect John Roberts.
Both the beautifully elegant vestibule and the unique Victorian stage at the Theatre Royal are available as a wedding venue for civil ceremonies in Waterford.
ON-STAGE WEDDINGS
Our stunning Victorian stage and auditorium, tucked away within our beautiful Georgian building in the heart of Waterford’s historic Viking Triangle, can cater for over 400 wedding guests.
Our professional theatre team will dress the stage with crisp white bridal drapes, a floral centrepiece arch to match your floral palette and covered seating for your wedding party, creating a beautiful backdrop for those picture-perfect moments, while your guests enjoy the spectacular scene from the audience!
Throughout your ceremony, our technical team will provide ambient lighting and music of your choice and, should public health guidelines restrict capacity on your Big Day, we also offer the option of live streaming your wedding ceremony to your family and friends at home.
WEDDINGS IN THE VESTIBULE
For couples looking for classic simplicity in a venue steeped in heritage, our elegant 18th century Theatre Royal Vestibule is the wedding location for you.
We can accommodate wedding ceremonies of up to 100 people in our striking, light-filled vestibule. Surrounded by eclectic artwork from the Waterford City Municipal Art Collection, one of the hidden gems of the Irish art world, you and your significant other can exchange vows with as little or as much formality as you choose.
