The Yeats Society of Ireland was founded in 1958 to preserve and promote the legacy of the work of the Yeats family in particular W. B. and Jack Yeats.
The Yeats Building in Sligo has a wedding licence and the original Edwardian banking hall is a perfect venue for an intimate wedding ceremony.
The room is on the ground floor of the building and has plenty of natural light. A winter ceremony can be enhanced with a real fire, lit specially for the occasion. Candles can be added if required.
The bride and groom can choose to sign the marriage register at Susan (Lily) Yeats’ original davenport desk, which was much used by her for writing letters and keeping her diary. Lily was WB Yeats’ sister and a trained and exquisite embroiderer.
The room is completely private and can comfortably seat 50 guests. We can advise on poetry and/or music if desired and the room can be decorated with drapes, flowers or your own choice of enhancement. We can also advise on hospitality if required.
We can be flexible on time of day for your wedding ceremony and can offer the room seven days a week.
